Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how MyWay Pantry collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile app and related services.
1. Information We Collect
- Account info: name and email address (obtained via Google or Apple Sign-In, or provided manually).
- Pantry & grocery data: the items, quantities, and expiration dates you record.
- Photos: images you upload of your pantry/receipts are processed by AI to extract items, then discarded unless you choose to keep them.
- Usage analytics: anonymized crash and performance data via Sentry to help us improve the app.
- Payment info: handled exclusively by Apple's In-App Purchase system or Stripe; we never see your card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve MyWay Pantry's core features (pantry tracking, meal suggestions, grocery lists).
- To communicate important updates, security notices, or respond to your support requests.
- To diagnose bugs and improve reliability (via anonymized analytics).
We never sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, which have their own privacy policies:
- OpenAI and Google Gemini — to process scanned photos and generate recipes.
- Apple and Google — for sign-in and (for Apple) Sign in with Apple's private email relay.
- Stripe — for subscription payments on the web (Apple handles iOS).
- Sentry — for crash reporting (anonymized).
- MongoDB Atlas — encrypted cloud storage for your account data.
4. Data Retention
Your data is stored as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing jpbrierre@gmail.com. Data is removed from our servers within 30 days.
5. Children's Privacy
MyWay Pantry is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data. Use the in-app controls in Settings or contact jpbrierre@gmail.com.
7. Security
All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Passwords (where applicable) are hashed with industry-standard algorithms. Payment info is never stored on our servers.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
